Quilts -

I have not posted in quite a while so am trying to play catch up. I have been lazy this past year. I have been working at downsizing books, music, clothes etc. You know how it is in a big house with lots of space having lived here over 50 years.

Another gal and I chose different size blocks over a 7 month period. Our purpose was to teach how to put them together. Mine was 42" but they could do any size they liked. They were displayed in our quilt show.

Could not purchase a kit for a small runner using these fabrics from Connecting Threads because they were sold out. So decided to purchase the country fabric and it just grew.  78"x37"

My Sister Sandra lives in Fl and wanted different size Pot Holders.

I gave it a Maine flavor with oceans...rocks....Puffins.

Enough for now...need to get busy as we head into Fall and Winter Season.

This was one of my projects for a weekend retreat with 25 others. Hot dog technique....very easy. Done for great-grand's.

Signature Quilt -Winter Snowman's Delight

This is a signature quilt that was done in Backroad quilters.

We chose our block and everyone who was in the swap made one for us in their choice of color. Each one is signed.

UFO-began in 2005-06 and finally finished 2016.

 and was in the Tacoma Quilt show held last month.

 This was a chapter challenge. We chose a season by lot from a brown bag. Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring.

Mine was winter 6" x 60" 

Our own design. It was fun to do.

These were in the Maine Quilt Show and 

also our Tacoma Quilt Show.

I broke my wrist February 2014 so I did not do much quilting for a least a year. 

Tacoma Lakes raffle quilt

Our local chapter Tacoma Lakes set up this beautiful quilt to be raffled at Longfellows Greenhouse this past weekend.

July 2014 Update

     Quilt made for a young mom for baby daughter.

This was made for great grand daughter. 

I called it 'Angels Unaware'

This was a special twelve month quilt project. December was all these tiny leaves. I button holed them and put little red buttons on them. Appliqued the ribbon. Quilted it myself.

Project done at our quilt group.

This is the extent of my quilting for a few months after falling and breaking my wrist. I am healing well and hope to get back to making quilts. My next project will be a curvy quilt that our quilting group made. 

April finishes-Jo Morton++

Where has almost 4 months of the this year gone? Quilting for me has taken a back burner with a few of life's challenges. Although I have seen some finishes.

My first finish. I joined the Jo(Morton) Little Women Club 12. I had none of her fabrics so have started from scratch to build a stash and now have a good amount of blue, brown, red and  golds...and of course a touch of black....I find very few of her lights though....But I am off and running with my first one done. "Abbygayle's Scraps". Finished it by hand quilting.

My 2nd finish is my quilt group challenge 'Bargello w/a Twist. by Maggie Ball. It multiple blocks all the same and there are 21 different way you can lay them to get a pattern. It is a group challenge and will be shown at the Maine Quilt show July 26-28 in Augusta.

various designs throughout. It is 40" square. 

My 3rd finish was something that was started in February 2004 and I finished the blocks in 2005. It was a block of the month at Busy Thimble, Litchfield. It had sat in a box to be finished for 7 years. Summer of 2012 I decided I had enough experience to put this together. It consisted of blocks from 4" and everything in between up to 20" with no layout

 and I had to fill in the gaps. 

It is called "OHIO COLLECTION" by Anita Shackelford/Thimble Works 2003. 

It was quilted by Ann Woodhead. I just got it back a few days ago and was encouraged by

fellow quilter friends to enter it into judged section of the Maine Quilt show in July. 

This eagle is the star of this quilt as far as I am concerned..hand appliqued...embroidery.

E PLURIBUS UNUM (means 'out of many one')

 This is shown on its side because of the length 100" x 83

I am on the left and Ann is on the right.

 I flipped this so you could see it right side up. Hard to see all the intricate pieces but you can get an idea. I had never done anything like this before so it was a challenge to me. Now I would find it much easier after years of quilting. So overjoyed to have it finally done.

Christmas Gifts

The is the final installment of the 12 month wall hanging that I did each month with 

CountryJunktion.com....They were a challenge but I enjoyed doing them. Techniques were needle turn applique.....in the ditch stitching.....short-arm quilting.....button hole stitch.

November finishes

This is the a little panel that I picked up at the Maine Quilt Show in July. I did a lot of stitching outlining in gold....black...and then added the sparkles and a star atop the tree to give it a little bling.

The story behind this is, I felt inspired to make this for a gal in our church that was almost dead and the Lord touched her and she lived and our church just set her up in her own apartment in time for Christmas. Her old apartment had been disbanded and  all her things gotten rid of except personal things. I felt she needed something special. We all know she is a miracle. I wrote at top left "God's Gift" and to the right "A Miracle"  and her name and date. For truly she is a miracle.

These are special pillow cases. The reason I decided to open them up is because on the first one I only had pieces but a great piece of baseball material and it worked out great. The last one is for my great-grandson - 2 who into green tractors...You can give him a farm book and he will spend hours looking through it...very unusual. When I was visiting my son in Tn. I found this perfect piece at Hancock's.

This is called 'Bargello with a twist' by Maggie Ball. Each year our quilt chapter has a challenge and this year we chose this. Mine is 40x40 and when I was in Tn purchased most of the material...I was really challenged in reading the book as it is not explained well but when I got past that with help from the gals it went together in jiffy time and I am really pleased...I am using wool batting and will be hand quilting. My hand are ready to do a small project. I have until Spring to finish. All the gals will be different coloring and layout. There are approx. 21 different ways you can turn these blocks to make a design..The light color is the key piece.
